The studio

Obsidian, formerly known as The Moon Tattoo, is on Carrer d'Alboraia, beside the Jardí de Vivers, north of the Turia riverbed. It holds a 5.0 across nearly two hundred reviews and a team of ten artists covering fine line, realism, Japanese and blackwork.

What makes it different is not decorative tattooing but restorative tattooing. They carry out realistic and 3D areola restoration after mastectomy, scar coverage and the correction of asymmetries: work that is technically demanding, emotionally delicate, and offered by very few studios in the city. They also do micropigmentation and piercing.

The team of ten artists is international and covers styles a long way apart from each other for a space this size. Hygiene measures are singled out in most of its reviews.

Two practical notes: the name changed recently, so looking for the old listing may turn up out-of-date information under The Moon Tattoo. And its review count is smaller than that of the big names on this list, however perfect the score.
