Methodology

A directory is only as good as its criteria. Here are ours, in full.

What we measure

  • Volume of Google reviews (40%). How many people have bothered to say something. It is the hardest indicator of all to game: a thousand genuine reviews are not easy to buy.
  • Average rating (25%). Always read alongside the volume. A 5.0 from twelve reviews is not a sample; a 4.7 from four thousand is.
  • Track record (20%). Years open, verifiable convention awards, stability of the team.
  • Specialism and range (15%). Either the studio masters one thing and can prove it, or it covers a broad spread well, with a specialist for each style.

Editorial criteria for inclusion

The four criteria above order the list, but they do not decide it entirely. This is a guide with a byline, not an automated ranking: we reserve the right not to include a studio when its commercial practice or the way it works is not what we want to recommend to a reader, even if its numbers would be enough to get in.

When that happens, the studio simply does not appear. We do not publish the reason and we do not point the finger at anyone: we do not rate businesses negatively and we do not make accusations about third parties. This list says who we recommend, not who we advise against.

What we do not measure

  • Money. Nobody pays to appear, or to appear higher up. There are no sponsored positions and no affiliate links.
  • What the studios think of their own position.
  • Reviews from platforms that do not publish how many there are or where they come from.

Where the data comes from

Addresses, phone numbers, websites and public profiles come from each studio's official listings and from open directories. Ratings and review counts are Google's. Every profile cites its sources at the foot of the page. This data changes: we review the guide periodically, and the date of the last review appears on every page.

Errors and corrections

If something in this guide is wrong — a phone number that has changed, a studio that has closed, a move — put us right and we will update it. The same goes if a studio wants its public contact details taken down.

Independence

Tatuajes València has no commercial relationship with any of the studios covered, does not handle appointments or bookings, and takes no commission on any of them. Contact details are published so that you can call the studio yourself, directly.
