The studio

Etther Museum Tattoo sits on Passatge de Ventura Feliu, a quiet street in Arrancapins a step from Gran Via, in Extramurs. The name is no accident: the place is conceived as a workshop with gallery ambitions, hence the line they use themselves, tattoos with the soul of a museum.

What surprises on walking in is the size of the team relative to how discreet the premises are: eleven tattooists and more than twenty years of craft accumulated between them, covering registers a long way apart: blackwork, engraving, realism, linework, traditional and color. The engraving work, that old woodcut texture rendered with a needle, is among the best you will see in Valencia.

Two things about how they work are worth knowing. The first is the free, no-obligation consultation: you can walk in, put the idea on the table, look through portfolios and leave without booking a thing. The second is that a single artist takes each session from start to finish, rather than splitting the work between different hands, something large studios do not always honor.

With a clean 5.0 on Google the score is perfect; what is still modest is the volume, 99 reviews against the thousands of the number one in this guide. This is a studio on the way up, not a veteran consolidated in reviews.

Two practical warnings before you go: they close on Mondays and Sundays, and from Tuesday to Friday they open afternoons only, 2pm to 8pm, though Saturdays they do run a full day from 11am. And they do not do piercing or laser removal: here it is tattooing and nothing else.

Why it ranks 10

  • 01

    Eleven artists, eleven registers

Blackwork, realism, engraving, line work, traditional and colour, each with its own specialist. You would be unlucky not to find someone who does your thing.

  • 02

    Free consultation, no obligation

You can drop in with your idea, look through portfolios and leave without having booked anything.

  • 03

    A workshop, not a chain

Each session is handled by one artist from start to finish, with no passing the work between different hands.

Before you go

Check that the studio has the municipal health licence on display, that materials are single-use and opened in front of you, and ask for a fixed quote in writing. We go through all of it in our guide to how to choose a tattoo studio in Valencia, and market rates in how much a tattoo costs in Valencia.
